Reaching 2,628 m (8,622 ft) at its peak, Alpspitz is famous for its pyramid-shaped summit and jagged crags. Hiking here is not for the timid; many of the routes are for more advanced mountaineers or experienced climbers, as the ascents are often steep and rocky--however, you can find a few paths appropriate for the whole family. Consider trying mountain biking, paragliding, or even sliding down the mountain on a 1,000 m (328 ft) long slide. The Alpspitzbahn offers a ride up for those who don’t wish to conquer the mountain on foot. wonderful rides on the trams and cable cars.....Great skiing here.....spend several days with family Skiing and sight seeing....terrific place. Definitely recommend and we will be back.

A must to do if you have the time and energy. Rode the cable car to the top and then walked down to the lowest cable car. It is a steep, loose rocks, some uphill hike. If you start from the top it is.... more

This is a great alternative to some of the mountains in the area. The cable car is relatively cheap and you get great views from the top. You can’t hike to the summit, but you can brave an observation deck for free.

Awesome views and if your up for it you can take the gondola to the top and hike back down to Garmisch. 19 euros to ride one way.
