Containing one of the largest collections of works by the German artist and pacifist Kathe Kollwitz, Kathe Kollwitz Museum displays more than 200 prints, drawings, posters, sculptures, and woodcuts. Opened in 1986, the museum traces its origins to art collector Hans Pels-Leusden, who bought many of the artist's works for decades and staged the first Kollwitz exhibit in 1965. Kollwitz lived in Berlin for more than 50 years and created some of her most memorable works there, including her celebrated self-portraits. The museum is inside a 19th-century villa that was partially destroyed during World War II. Be sure to explore the upper floor, which contains a 2 m (6.6 ft) statue of Kollwitz by sculptor Gustav Seitz. This museum shines a light on the life and artistic endeavours of Kathe Kollwitz. There was just enough background information to explain the exhibits and appreciate the inspiration for the work...

Moving etchings, drawings; we were very moved by the emotional artworks. It is well worth a visit. When in Berlin you must go.

Great museum! Good and accessible storytelling, a nice selection of works and a beautiful space for the temporary collections. Physical accessibility can be an issue. I spent about an hour there
