The Georgian National Museum (Georgian: საქართველოს ეროვნული მუზეუმი, romanized: sakartvelos erovnuli muzeumi) unifies several leading museums in Georgia.

The museum was established within the framework of structural, institutional, and legal reforms aimed at modernizing the management of the institutions united within this network, and at coordinating research and educational activities. Since its formation on December 30, 2004, the Museum has been directed by professor David Lordkipanidze.
The Georgian National Museum integrates the management of the following museums:

  • The museum needs some life. It doesn’t offer audio tours and only guided tours (which to me was less than satisfactory, and they only toured one floor and left us!)

  • Great museum with some great exhibits. The building definitely shows justice to what it contains. One point I felt - it misses a good narrative experience journey altogether. The exhibits are placed together In different halls and that’s it. Could do a lot more with the museum’s inventory.
  • Fantastic museum! The gold collection is just amazing.. I recommend to take a guided tour! The last floor devoted to the soviet occupation almost made me cry.
