Situated at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, World Heritage Site Jvari Church sits alone atop a desolate, windswept mountaintop. A Georgian Orthodox monastery founded in the 6th century, the site is where St. Nino converted King Miriam to Christianity (according to tradition) and erected a cross on an existing pagan temple. The current church is believed to have been built between 590 and 605 CE. Explore this site to get a sense of the religious history of the nation. Attempt to read the inscription on the facade, which is said to date the structure by naming the principle builders involved in the construction. Beautiful! The view, inside the church and the surrounding history was a very nice experience. Our guide was making sure we got the history and understanding of the surroundings. Thank you for this experience Georgia!

Such a beautiful view from up here. Amazing to see the two rivers meeting. The monastery is typical, no info available in English on the significance, but great view.
