Painted by Monet numerous times, Parc Monceau is an elegant green space in the middle of cosmopolitan Paris. Check out the statues, entrance rotunda, and the surrounding mansions. Thanks to city planner Haussmann, this precious slice of parkland was reserved for the enjoyment and leisure of the people of Paris. The park's plan is unusual in France, due to its casual, English-style layout. This contrasts with other Parisian parks, such as the formal Luxembourg Gardens and Tuileries. Scaled-down architectural replicas are scattered through the park, including an Egyptian pyramid, a Dutch windmill, and a Chinese fort. Beautiful compact city park. Perfect for a morning jog or stroll around the circa 1k lap. Lots of people exercising in mornings and kids playing in afternoons. Lovely variety of trees and shrubs. In a word: A GEM !
