Trip Planner: Europe / France / Ile-de-France / Seine-et-Marne / Meaux / Musee de la Grande Guerre
An impressive collection of 50,000 objects at Musee de la Grande Guerre tells the story of the World War I, as well as its impact on society as a whole. Everyday objects, like first aid kits and stoves from the private collection of World War I expert Jean-Pierre Verne tell the story of past hardship. Innovative technology allows you to immerse all of your senses into the first World War with visual frescoes, hands-on objects, olfactory presentations, and ambient sounds. Whether you're most interested in tactics and strategy, daily life in the trenches, women's role in the war, or some other facet, you'll likely find a theme-based exhibit to explore. A visit to Musee de la Grande Guerre represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Meaux trip itinerary app to plot your vacation.

Incredible place that takes visitors on a journey from prewar Europe, through the boredom and horrors of trench warfare through to its impact on the remaining years of the century.

Absolutely amazing experience. The museum has a wonderful collection. We took my 13 year old nephew and 6 year old son, both found it very interesting, and i must admit that even though i wasn't keen on going it even had me interested 😊 Tickets were a bargain too!
Solely on WW I. Well organized, lots of video, and extensive English placards. The tour starts with a slide show that takes you back to 1870’s and the tensions leading up to the war. Curation is excellent.
