It was named in 1894 by Samuel E.S. Allen after Saint Piran, the Patron Saint of Cornwall.

A great hike brings you almost a kilometre above Lake Louise. Much quieter that the trail up Mt. Fairview with the added bonus of the optional descent to the Lake Agnes teahouse for a warm beverage on the way down.
