Watch out for free-flying birds and free-running monkeys at Haus des Meeres - Aqua Terra Zoo. Housing over 10,000 aquatic beings, and home to the country's first saltwater aquarium, the zoo offers a panoramic view of the city from the terrace of the building. Made from German bunkers used during World War II, the zoo has animals like crocodiles and snakes in the terrarium section; sharks, sea turtles, and corals in the tropical seawater section; and anemones, shells, crabs, sea urchins, and starfish in the Mediterranean sea section. Enjoy light refreshments at the cafe on the terrace as you take in the views of the city. Be sure to check the zoo's website for feeding schedules and special events. The aquarium itself is big with 11 stories. It has many types of fish in each floor. But if you have been to other aquariums you will not be that impressed. If this is your first visit to an aquarium.... more

Amazing place, something you need to visit. It is very entertaining for kids, but for adults too. So much animals. On top is amazing Cafe with nice view. Perfect place to drink coffee and enjoy in view. Tickets is about 20e, not so expensive for such zoo. Definitely new favorite place to drink coffee.

This is a very nice place. Lots it beautiful animals to see and very well presented. I went on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded. You can even touch some fish. There is some info in English beside each animal but would be nice to have more in English. Also sometimes it's a bit confusing which direction one should take in order to be able to see all presented animals. On top there is a nice view of Vienna. I would highly recommend visiting this place to anyone but especially people with kids. Also ticket price of 21e for an adult is reasonable for such an experience.
