Create an itinerary including Salzburg Museum
Discover the cultural history and legends of the city at Salzburg Museum. Housed within a restored 17th-century archbishop's guesthouse, the museum features two floors, the art hall that lies beneath the inner courtyard, and an underground passage with archeological displays that connects this with another museum. Exhibits on the first floor offer a glimpse into the lives, achievements, and legacies of the city's spiritual and secular leaders. The museum highlights include the furniture from the nearby palace, the earliest example of a bass clarinet, and the original manuscript of the largest-scale piece of Baroque music. Put Salzburg Museum and other Salzburg attractions into our Salzburg trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • I think we finished this in 15 minutes! What a disjointed museum and not very interesting either. Went to the basement first where had a coffee shop exhibition. In German and not very interesting...

  • Pretty standard city museum that gives good info on Salzburg's history and culture. You can see it all relatively quickly. Good to buzz through and even better if it's hot or raining outside. Breeze.....  more

  • Unfriendly staff, only 2 floors of 4 were working and we were not warned about it, also there was another part of the museum to the right from the entrance which was not working as well, and we were not told about that part of the museum at all. It is not worth it compared the money they ask to pay. There were no clear signs throughout the exhibition and that’s why everything looked messy and not related to each other.
  • The title of the exhibition is not effective for attracting international visitors. Despite translations of panel texts, there's far too much to read and take in, less would have been more.
