Pieter van Gent Winery & Vineyard
Pieter van Gent Winery & Vineyard, a 40-hectare (100-acre) estate in the fertile Cudgegong River valley, is noted for producing the first Chardonnay wine in Australia over 40 years ago. The winery advocates sustainable farming and offers wine enthusiasts a comprehensive experience, with on-site accommodation and a variety of special events and activities hosted at the cellar door. The barrel hall, which includes twenty German oak barrels built around 1850, introduces visitors to the history of winemaking in Australia. Find out how the site’s expert winemakers combine traditional methods used for centuries with modern technology to produce some of the region’s best wines, like the famous Mudgee White Port. A complete hidden gem of an experience for anyone looking for a unique and historical tasting experience. I can see this place blowing up and becoming a highly sought-after spot in the near future. Sipping white port in the cool dwelling amongst centuries old roof-high german wine barrels, with Tom the cat on the bar. You would be forgiven for thinking you've left Mudgee and slipped into the basement of a old town German winery in the mountains of Alsace. One of the best.

Loved this winery… a very different experience to all the others in Mudgee but in a good way. The tasting room is so nice with the barrels and all the wines were delicious! $5 pp for tasting and they don’t take bookings… definitely not to be missed.
