Gulgong Gold Experience is located on the exact location of the first gold find in Gulgong in 1870. This new facility houses the interesting history of Gulgong which incorporates detailed information, photographs and local maps depicting the local gold leads. The replica tunnel has been established so visitors can experience the atmosphere of a 1870' mine. This is not the only attraction to Red Hill, there is also the original mine shaft below the Poppet Head which is lit up to enable you to see the water level and depth of the mine, an old miner's cottage, an excellent example of quarts which was been dug up during the construction of the tunnel. Once your tour of the Red Hill precinct is complete you are encouraged to meander through Gulgong and experience the other interesting places, The Gulgong Pioneers Museum, Henry Lawson Centre, Prince of Wales Opera House by appointment, and finally the Mayne Street of Gulgong where you will find the Holtermann Museum project with its new facades well worth a photograph, These buildings are two originals both photographed in the 1870's and form part Holtermann Collection Whilst walking down Mayne Street, keep a look out on the pavements for the "Swaggie" Tiles, they explain the way "Swaggies" communicated in the Gold Rush Era. You may well need more than a day too experience Gulgong special attractions.Take a look at our Gulgong travel itinerary planner to schedule your visit to Gulgong Gold Experience and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

Our kids enjoyed the visit, especially the “gold” panning! They learnt quite a bit from the walk through the mine shaft, too.
