This wildlife sanctuary in New South Wales offers a rare combination of free-roaming Aussie animals and ancient Aboriginal rock art. When you enter Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary, expect to be greeted by kangaroos. Wallabies and emus hop along the path to the visitor center. Along the 3 km (1.85 mi) of walking tracks, you'll see animals such as wallabies, wombat, flying foxes, and crocodiles. Meet Zoe, the park’s most-photographed kangaroo, with her sparkling studded collar. You can also get a photo with a koala or python. The rangers tell stories about the animals and their survival in the bush. At Aboriginal Heritage and Bush Tucker/Medicine tours, see the Hawkesbury engravings, one of 4,000 engravings, stencils, and paintings in the area. Learn how to throw a boomerang and pick out the shape of animals lurking in the trees. The Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary is an incredible place to visit! You get to be immersed with the animals, feed them, pat them etc. The rangers are so amazing. They provided so much information but even more importantly they loved the animals they cared for. Some of the standouts: Meeting Matilda- a blind wallaby who also has dementia! She is the sweetest. The sanctuary is providing this quality of life for her & other animals… We got to meet a couple of wallabies & their baby joeys! This is truly a magical place- we will definitely be back & you should too :)

Quaint little places to see and walk among some animals. It's a bit pricey in comparison to similar places, but the money goes to a great cause and helps save many animals! The staff are lovely, welcoming you with a big grin and friendly demeanor.
