Nestled along the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, Lake Kariba features several islands and a vibrant wildlife, including the indigenous tigerfish. This artificial lake was created together with the Kariba Dam in the early 1960s. The best way to explore the lake is to board one of the houseboats and spend the night on deck under the safety of a mosquito net. Watch eagles and cormorants patrolling along the shore and look out for an occasional herd of elephants. Jointly shared by the countries Zambia & Zimbabwe. Put in operations in 1959 and is the largest man made lake as water reservior by volume buit on Zambazi river . Dam wall is double curvature... more »
