At The Lilayi Elephant Nursery, observe orphaned baby elephants playing with one another and feeding. The nursery opened in 2012 on a 650 hectare (1,606 acre) game farm with a mission to provide care and a safe environment to elephant calves rescued from poachers. Because these baby elephants have suffered trauma, you will not be allowed to pet them. They are also kept away from close interactions with humans so they can be reintroduced into the wilderness and exposed to wild elephants. Every day before noon you can hear a short lecture about the project given by a member of the staff.
