Victoria Falls, Livingstone

4.7
Set your gaze upon Victoria Falls, the largest falls in the world. The waterfall is named in honor of Queen Victoria of Britain by a Scottish missionary, who perceived his discovery only as an obstacle to his preaching of Christianity to the whole of the African continent. Also called Mosi-oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders," by the local people, the falls extend 1,708 m (5,604 ft) across and 108 m (354 ft) in height. See the columns of spray from miles away plunging to the gorge below. To reach the falls you have to trek a road through the forest, so wear appropriate shoes. Put Victoria Falls into our Livingstone route builder app and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • November is off-season, so there was very little water and I didn't feel much of the power of the waterfall. However, you can enjoy the Devil's Pool only during this period.

  • The guide was very friendly and gives information. Despite that the part of the falls in Zambia was completely dry in October, it is also interesting to see the rock. I have also visited the part of Zimbabwe where there is water all year round. the two views were different. The guide was very friendly and gives information. • Not as exciting in the summer as you can see in the picture but it's a good time to go into the park for a nature walk. Also the best time to swim in the devil's pool and go to the boiling point. The rocks that form the wall of the falls are so beautiful to look and you cam walk on the knife edge bride without falling. Great place regardless of the water levels
  • Beautiful place. The walkways. The views from the narrow bridge - water & rainbow. Loved the trail. What an experience. Loved it more as an adult than my first visit as a young boy growing in Zambia.
