Phap Viện Minh Dang Quang is one of the largest temples in Ho Chi Minh City, established by the Mendicant Buddhist Order, one of the biggest Buddhist sects in southern Vietnam. The central octagon-shaped temple topped with a lotus flower was designed in traditional Chinese architectural style. Most people come here to pray and visit the huge bronze statue of the Buddha inside the central pagoda, but the restaurant serving delicious vegetarian dishes carries the biggest appeal for the foreign travelers. Peaceful. As mentioned by previous writers, this temple is still being built. It is attractive and spacious (if you don't look at the currently half built sections at the back. The monks are friendly as I don't think they get many tourists here. There is now a new clean friendly and cheap local vegetarian restaurant here which is excellent value for money with a huge selection of tasty foods. There is a nice restaurant name Thien Duyen on one side and I am certain it will also be appreciated by many other people (and they can do the food as take away as well). Minh Dang Quang is the most Impressive pagoda at HCMC. The place is "growing up" and therefor there are new additional structures still under construction. Regardless there is enough to see. Definitely go there - No entrance fee - About 30-60 minutes visit - Recommended for architecture lovers?
