#6 of 38 in Parks in Yellowstone National Park
Containing nearly one quarter of all geysers in the world, Upper Geyser Basin is where you'll find the majority of the geysers in Yellowstone National Park. This small area, only 5 sq km (2 sq mi) in size, features spouting geysers, rainbow-colored hot springs, and steaming fumaroles. Discover the most famous geyser in the world, Old Faithful, which erupts regularly about every 45 to 90 minutes. The geyser spouts approximately 31 m (100 ft) into the air. In the same region, you can continue on to visit Morning Glory Pool, a 7 m (23 ft) deep funnel-shaped pool with beautiful coloring. With 410 geysers in the basin, there's no shortage of geological wonders to explore. • We visited the entire basin in a day, because it is quite extensive and you have a lot of scampering on foot on the boardwalks and trails. The attractions are numerous. It seems that a quarter of the world's geysers are concentrated here. It takes a little luck to get the eruption of a geyser, but if you have a day is impossible not to enjoy some spectacular phenomenon. Then there are the springs, first and foremost the beautiful Morning Glory by wonderful colors, though now slightly altered due to the nasty habit of tourists throw in stones and miscellaneous items. If you go in high season armed with patience because it is one of the most crowded areas of the Park.

  • You walk and walk but not even you realize surrounded by something unique. We are within an area of including the most famous geyser Old Faithful area, but the colors you will join the soul!

Where to stay in Yellowstone National Park

As one of the U.S.'s most popular national parks, Yellowstone provides plenty of options for sleeping within its boundaries. Choose from lodges, inns, cabins, hotels, motels, and campgrounds throughout the park. Most of the structured accommodations lie in the park's most-visited areas, such as Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Falls, Old Faithful Geyser, and Yellowstone Lake. Staying on the northern side of the lake puts you right in the heart of the park, making it relatively convenient to visit other areas. Resorts, lodges, and guest ranches line the road just outside the park's east entrance, and a cluster of motels and hotels fills the town of West Yellowstone near the west entrance. You can also opt for lodges and inns to the north in Gardiner, Montana, or find nearly every type of accommodation to the south in Jackson, Wyoming. Staying outside the park is fine if you plan to drive through in a day and catch the highlights, but you'll want to spend at least one night inside the park if you plan to explore it more thoroughly.
