  • I have been to Yellowstone before, although it has been many years, and Morning Glory Pool had been one of my favorite places on the Upper Geyser Basin. I eagerly anticipated seeing it again on this trip. It was a much longer walk than I remembered... It's 1.5 miles on the boardwalk from Old Faithful Inn. While it was still clear and lovely, it had lost some of its beautiful blue color that gave it it's name and that set it apart for me. When I asked about it the Ranger said that the water has cooled some because of the debris that has been thrown into it by visitors and this has partially clogged the water vent. Geysers get their color from the water temperature and the minerals in it, plus the organisms that can tolerate the heat and thrive. Greens and oranges reflect cooler water. This caused me to respect these water features more for they are what bring people to this place. It is sad that this is happening; caused by people who think its funny. I want to see this place be around for others to enjoy, so I ask that others think about what they are doing to help keep the water features and the park pristine.
  • Absolutely beautiful, worth the block down from Old Faithful Lodge. It is just an absolute crime that people throw garbage in these Thermal pools. Thankfully we did not see any when we were there.
  • Be sure to walk or bike the path away from Old Faithful to view this spectacular iconic colored pool. Thirty years after I first saw it, I am pleased to see that the vent has steadily been cleared of debris so that the true depth of morning glory color has returned.
  • It's beautiful, however, don't expect to see the same as older pictures. The park now calls it 'Fading Glory' as the colors that come from very high temperatures (and the bacterias that live at those temps) have disappeared. That is due to people throwing random things into the pool, blocking the duct inside. What a shame!! Can't imagine someone walking all the way to see such a natural beauty and then decide to throw things into it?!?
  • Very pretty just keep in mind it is quite a walk out and back.
