  • Phenomenal. One of the best geysers in Yellowstone, better than Old Faithful but nowhere near as crowded. You will need more patience to see it tho, it only erupts once or twice a day and then within a four hour window. I think that time can be whittled down tho depending on how much observation it’s been given. If you drive past and see a lot of people waiting don’t be afraid to ask someone where it’s at. It’s worth waiting for. Doesn’t always reach as high as Old Faithful, but eruptions last much longer. It is also perfectly named, erupting in majestic bursts out of a large terraced platform. Watching the water cascade down these terraces is almost as fun as the eruption itself. The eruptions are rather variable in size and consist of many series of bursts. Usually the first series is the largest, but even a “weak” eruption is worth the wait. If you’re waiting and the eruption is not imminent a fun geyser can be found across the road. Walk back the the pullout for surprise spring and watch out over the flat area to the east. About a hundred yards away is boytroidal geyser, which is comparatively small but erupts with an explosive start every 5-8 minutes. If you watch carefully you may see the entire pool of water lift in a large “blue bubble”
  • Worth the wait, I think we sat there 4 hours to make sure we would not miss it. Got REALLY lucky and it went off just after the sun went down!
