Fairy Falls, Yellowstone National Park

#6 of 23 in Trails in Yellowstone National Park
Among the tallest cascades in Yellowstone, Fairy Falls drop into a shallow pool of cold water. Plunging from a height of 61 m (197 ft), the falls are accessible via a shaded trail that passes through a pine forest. This easy hike, which doesn't provide much of a view, continues past the falls in the direction of two geysers--Spray and Imperial. Watch out for local wildlife, including foxes, deer, bison, and bears. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Yellowstone National Park holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Fairy Falls and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • From Fairy Falls Trail you have the best overview of the Grand Prismatic Spring. Just about 5km easy walk.  more »

  • A fun little hike to a less traveled waterfall. There are some other really cool sights around there worth checking out.
  • About 5/5.5 mile round trip walk. No hard elevation changes. It is the third left off the road you take from the parking lot.
