Visit National Mall, the historical national park where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. The park contains the Washington Monument and spans the region between the Lincoln Memorial and the United States Capitol. This park hosts numerous recreational activities, festivals, and concerts, but is most appreciated as a site for historic political rallies and gatherings, such as the Vietnam War Moratorium Rally in 1969. Millions of people visit the park annually to stand in the place where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous speech, and every four years Americans flood the park to watch the Presidential Inauguration. PutNational Mall into our Washington DC vacation planning tool and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

This is a natural walk from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial. We were awe struck walking along this historic site since we've seen it in so many films! more »

One of our great areas in the USA. The Mall "park" is huge and has so many different museums to enjoy. Many are free since they belong to us to enjoy. The area is great for exercise and just to reflect on the history. There are many forms of transportation you can use. Rental bikes, scooters, metro, cab, bus. Just pick one that works best for you and have fun.

The National Mall looks great - the Park Service continues to repair and improve the grounds. During our latest visit (Labor Day weekend) the Washington Monument was still being renovated. But there's still more than enough attractions and sites to fill a weekend.
