  • The winery is nice to walk around and they offer, besides the tasting, a food market where you can buy some food and eat in the outside. We decided to escape the tasting and just bought a bottle of wi...  more »
  • I do realize that this is a winery, but I must say that the food selection is just as extensive as the wine. It can get a bit busy so try and go on an off day but make sure that you get the truffle ma...  more »
  • Did the winery tour recently in my first visit to SF and certainly Napa Valley. The adults enjoyed it and so do the kids. While we sample the wines, the kids were provided grape juices. The cheeses an...  more »

  • Great experience in everyway! Very friendly staff that's knowledgeable and excited to have you experience the different products to find what suits your taste best... Gorgeous grounds, a beautiful place to meander around a slow life down. A fun gift shop to grab souvenirs or essentials...be ready to have a difficult time choosing your favorite cheese! Thanks Jack, Preston, and Kimberly for the great experience!
  • Solid tasting experience and def a tourist attraction. Huge indoor tasting room with many tables outside as well. Numerous hosts/hostesses to facilitate the tasting event but on Friday afternoon it was akin, almost, to a fraternity party. Definitely some high end clients there and middle of the road folks as well. All seemed equally comfortable but it was not an intimate setting by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, it was downright difficult to hear our hostess. While we enjoyed their wines, we found others we enjoyed more for our personal tastes, though I fell in love with their Madeira and 15 y.o. Port. I will need to order some of those in the future
  • easy access winery, tasting choices are good for the charge! Best of all is: food to buy available (awesome prices and WONDERFUL quality and flavored choices) and go sit outside in the picnic tables. MUST try: clam chowder soup...wow. best than any restaurant I had tried in the world (literally)!
  • We hit this place on a very busy day when they were doing an outdoor cook out with pizza and smoked meats and such. Although the lines were long and food seemed pricey it was a very nice change from a standard restaurant and as an east coaster it's nice to be outside in November! Great people watching too!
  • If you're looking for a picnic with wine, cheese, and meats then you found the perfect spot. I've been visiting V. Sattui for many years. I've never found a better place to enjoy a picnic with family. The wine tastes great and you'll have a chance to taste many of them here at the wine tasting bar. The cheese and meat area is a PITA when this place is busy, so expect a crowd. They have everything else you'll need for the picnic, so don't worry about anything. If you're lucky you'll see the train go by while you're eating at a picnic table.

Where to stay in St. Helena

Because St. Helena is nestled in upscale wine country, most people who visit have no intention of roughing it. As such, the city sports a number of luxurious hotels. Several boast restaurants, hot tubs, and swimming pools; however, keep in mind that those with extensive grounds tend to be farther away from the main street. Budget-conscious travelers can find some more basic motels (looking farther out of town is a good way to save a few dollars). However, those staying on the outskirts should be aware that parking--particularly during high season--can be challenging in the city.
