Learn about one of the last great prospecting adventures at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. The Cadillac Hotel is your first stop on the trail. This site was once the initial supply point for prospectors headed to the Yukon. Explore the temporary exhibits and pick up a map of the original Chilkoot Trail that settlers used to reach the wild lands where they hoped to strike it rich. This is the only international historical park shared by Canada and the United States, as the park extends up to Alaska. The park includes historical settler towns and Dawson City. Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park reviews
Nice little museum that gives you a great overview of life for those who came for the gold rush. No too long but enough materials to give you enough insight. Worth a stop for sure. more »
This was an unexpected treat in Seattle. I was there for a conference and had some time after it was over. My wife had gone here the day before. The site is small but packed with great information.... more »
The storytelling aspect of this historical park is very well thought out. The exhibits do a great job of explaining the Gold Rush of Klondike. Worth a visit if you're exploring Pioneer Square. The summer waterfront shuttle has a stop only 1 block away from here.
As soon as we arrived at the museum the staff welcomed us very friendly and immediately informed us about the on-going presentation about how to pan gold. The educational value of the presentation was incredibly informative. After the presentation we walked around exploring the museum on our own. Firstly we took a look on the ground floor that provides many different interesting exhibits, displays and pictures. As soon as we entered the basement, it felt like we were going into an actual gold mine. This might be good for children as it has many possibilities to interact with the physical exhibits that are, for instance the gold panning that you can try out by yourself as well as a wheel that you can spin, which shows you the probability of actually finding gold. In conclusion we can say that the staff is very helpful and extremely friendly, the interactivities with the exhibits are easy to understand and fun to use. Due to this the educational value is really high. It is an absolutely need to go when you are interested in american history!
