Learn about the Cold War and nuclear conflict at Titan Missile Museum. The museum sits atop the only remaining Titan II missile site of the 54 that helped guard the United States from a missile attack from 1963 to 1987. Take a tour to see an intercontinental ballistic missile in its Cold War environment and view the technology used by the United States to deter nuclear war. Check out the museum store which offers Titan II memorabilia, including a dosimeter which is used to detect radiation. You'll find a number of tours available throughout the week; some provide a chance to visit areas normally closed to the public. A visit to Titan Missile Museum represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Sahuarita online vacation planner to plot your vacation.
Titan Missile Museum Reviews
This place is well worth a visit. It's not every day you can see a decommissioned nuclear missile and it's control room ! You have to book in advance. You can just turn up and if there is... more »
This brings the Cold War and the threat of a real nuclear war right to your face. One of the last or the very last of the Tital Millises built for the cold war. Going down into the bunker and... more »
Fascinating tour. A chance to see the only remaining site open to the public, and pretty much as it was. Well - except no actual function! There is the shell of the missile still in the silo. Our guide was outstanding. Patient and able to answer any questions. Nice introductory film. Large handbags and backpacks should be left in your car or there are keyed lockers inside. After the tour you can walk anywhere around the outside, then visit the museum shop. There are a lot of open-grate steps down (and back up) so beware of wearing heels. Not for anyone needing assistance as this is the original facility. No elevator.
Here on vacation and this was a unique opportunity. I brought the average age down (most tour attendees were retired men) AND my three teen daughters came with me. It was a great experience for all of us, my girls included! Would definitely recommend carving out an hour to experience this slice of history.
