Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia

#2 of 15 in Zoos & Aquariums in Pennsylvania
A premier zoo for animal breeding, Philadelphia Zoo is known for the variety of primate species that live there. The Rare Animal Conservation Center offers an up-close view of rare species and features interactive graphics. In other areas you'll view the antics of otters and red pandas, as well as the grace of big cats. Take time to visit the aviaries, which teem with feathered friends. You'll be able to spot the zoo anywhere in the city--the Zooballoon, a tethered balloon that floats high above the skyline, marks its location. • What can I say? I adore this zoo. I have a membership so visit any chance I can. The last time I visited I spent the most time with the red pandas and penguins. I appreciate the changes the zoo made.....  more »
  • I haven’t been to the zoo since I visited with my son during a summer recreation program over twenty years ago. My husband and I felt like kids. What a great place. We couldn’t see it all because I...  more »

  • Name the Animal and you will find it here. Good grouping of animals. Well maintained place. Easy to hangout and find specific animals. Carry a zoo map at entrance. Can spend easily 2 to 3 hrs in this place. They have a boating option too for interested ones.
  • We took a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo fro NYC. We got there around 11 AM on Wednesday morning and the place was practically empty except from a few camp trips there. The main parking lots still had lots of space. Parking is $16. Though the surrounding neighborhood isn't the best, the short walk from the parking lot to the zoo entrance is safe. The admission to the zoo is about $20-25. There are lots of animals at the zoo, all with adequate space. All animals appeared to be well maintained and cared for. As with most zoos, the earlier you get there the better..less crowds, closer parking and active animals. There are a few areas to grab a bit to eat as well as restrooms. Unfortunately, it was raining quite a bit that day so our trip was cut short. We plan on attending again soon. Keep in mind that if you plan to visit more than once in a year, the membership might be worthwhile. The membership includes unlimited admission for one year and includes parking and discounts at the zoo store and eateries throughout the zoo.
