Complementing the AMNH exhibitions, Museum at Prairiefire offerings include regular events and programming such as Science Happy Hour and Little Explorers Club, stunning artifacts from national and regional collections, the Discovery Room for children ages 3-12 and two unique Virtual Reality Experiences.
The Museum at Prairiefire was founded in 2008 and opened in 2014 through a unique partnership with the world renowned American Museum of Natural History. Because of this unprecedented association, the Museum at Prairiefire has premiere access to the American Museum of Natural History’s timely and scientifically accurate exhibitions, renowned educational resources and some of the best scientists in the world.
Museum at Prairiefire Reviews
If you have a kid that likes dinosaurs this is the spot. The staff on the second floor is very informative. The discovery room is a good place to learn. I've even been here for business meetings... more »
This museum has stunning architecture. The full skeleton of t-Rex and pterodactyl. Outstanding interactive dinosaur game. A small fee to enter temporary or visiting exhibits. more »
The museum is a beautiful facility! The windows, the lighting, the outdoor scenery -- gorgeous! The Discovery Center upstairs is pretty neat, but better for older kids (kids who can read some on their own). Wish the museum was a little more interactive for the grownups (although I was toting three little boys, so I may have missed a few things!) 🙂 The Dinosaur Alive experience is pretty awesome! Overall a good visit and I'm glad we went!
This is a great hands on museum in the upstairs section which also has some reptiles and insects. The architecture is beautiful. You can do the entire museum in less than 2 hours then eat at one of the near by restaurants. The guides are excellent and enjoy educating people on the exhibits.
