The Basilica of St Mary of the Angels, Olean

"Let the Church always be a place of Mercy and Hope, where everyone is welcomed, loved and forgiven." --Pope Francis

Welcome to The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels --more than 1,300 families strong-- a vibrant center of worship in the southern region of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo (NY). Pope Francis approved the title of Minor Basilica which was signed Feb. 14, 2017! Come for the special graces which a Basilica has the privilege to offer you. If you have been away from the Catholic Church for a while, or are thinking of joining us or are a Catholic looking for a home parish or just want to come to worship with us, let us share a little about us in this Facebook page-- who we are, why we're here and how we may be of service to you and your family.

We welcome people of all faiths to visit us. If you are planning a group visit or are driving quite a distance, we suggest you call our parish office to schedule your visit so it doesn't conflict with a funeral or wedding rehearsal or other event that would prevent you from enjoying your experience here. 716-372-4841 Mon-Fri 9am-2pm.

  • Beautiful Catholic church in Olean. They have spent a lot of time and money to make this a Minor Basilica and they did a wonderful job.  more »
  • I went to pay my tithes and enjoy the festivities. At my request the priest took time out of his busy schedule to pray over me. Everyone there was so nice to me and welcoming. I felt as if I were among old friends and I was being reunited with them again. I have NEVER stepped foot in a Catholic Church and know nothing about the ways of the Catholic faith but I felt loved, accepted, and welcomed. I spoke to many people there and I had a wonderful time. When the festival was over I volunteered to help with the clean up and I was not denied to service for my Lord. I had wonderful insightful talks with a man in training to become a priest. He told me the name of his position but I have forgotten what he called it. I was invited back next year. My contact information was given. With GREAT anticipation, I look forward to getting my invitation in the mail. I just left and already I long to see my new friends that feel so much like old best friends. If you are looking for acceptance, love, friendship, and spiritual guidance, then this is your place. When I get my invite I will be there. I had pie and coffee on the porch where the prettiest lives. The ladies did an excellent job of setting up, the pie and coffee (freshly ground coffee beans) were great, and they even waited the tables like it was a 5 star restaurant.
  • Nice church. Active community. Beautiful building
