Museum of the City of New York explores the past, present, and future of one of the world's most famous cities. The red-brick, neo-Georgian building, built in 1929 and 1930, boasts a vast collection of items related to the city, with a particularly extensive dedication to objects from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Learn about New York, its people, and its distinctive character through paintings, prints, antiques, and other artifacts. The museum's photos includes works by a number of famous photographers. Don't miss the museum's rare items, such as the chair that belonged to Sarah Rapelje, said to be the first child born in New York of European parents. You can grab a bite to eat afterward at Chalsty's Cafe. • Great museum, a gem, easy to get to by bus, little to no crowds, facinating displays and information. Make a note for your next visit to the city.  more »

  • The Museum of the city of New York is pretty cool it’s very very big building. There are many exhibitions on many floors and the elevators are fast and accessible. The exhibitions are very informational and it has a lot of interesting visual materials but can be a bit dull for children. Barbara D once went to this museum with me and said it was informational inspiring and overall her experience was great.
  • I think I've enjoyed the museum the most because of two things: 1. I love New York 2. Without the city of New York, there was no reason to have a museum, right?! just think about it, what will be the exhibitions about l? what would be the underline that connects all the art work. I think also my sister (which is big new York fan ) will agree with me
