At this venue, we attended the symphony, the ballet, and the theatre. All were absolutely wonderful! The opera is here, too, but we did not attend the opera. Not too far away is Jazz at Lincoln Center... more »
I attended a Saturday matinee of Samson and Delilah. I was seated on the side of the Dress Circle and still had full view of the stage. The subtitles video screen provided in front of each seat makes it easy to follow along the words and action. I always bring opera glasses to see closer details from time to time during the performance. There were two intermissions that were long enough to get up and stretch your legs and/or use the restroom conveniently located on the same level. This was a delightful experience overall.
Fairly fabulous architecture that excuses culture. I've always found it interesting that it was designed as an equalizer. A place where people of all walks of life could come together to enjoy the artistic endeavors of profession and future professionals alike. I applause the vision of its creators and will continue to visit when I am in the city. Of the three main buildings, the opera house is my favorite. I love their chagal murals and their sputnik chandeliers.
