Erected in 1902, Flatiron Building takes its name from its resemblance to a cast-iron clothing iron and was built to fill a small wedge-shaped piece of land. Designed by Daniel Burnham, the building epitomizes the Chicago School design, which makes it distinct from the other skyscrapers in the area. Upon completion, the building was one of the tallest in the city, measuring 87 m (285 ft) in height. The building no longer carries that designation, however, it remains one of the city's iconic examples of architecture. Fait partie des photos classique de NY. Sur les photos que l’on voit, on a l’impression que l’édifice est seul dans la ville mais finalement c’est tout comme NY, il est entouré d’autres édifices. Une ... more »Part of the classic photos of NY. In the photos we see, we have the impression that the building is alone in the city but in the end it is just like NY, it is surrounded by other buildings. Once you're taking the picture, enjoy the surroundings. Why not a burger at the original Shake Shack or a little foray into Italy at Eataly?
If u have time and are walking around mid town, you can drop by flatiron building . I’m not sure if u can go in , but it is very pretty and an interesting building .. it’s also close to Madison park. If you have a wide angled camera , u can get some good shots . Empire is in the other side .. photographers will love this spot. Open up ur imagination and u can capture so many pics here .. good spot for things to do in NYC ..
I really liked this hotel. I'll be leaving tomorrow and before I forget, I want to say enjoyed my stay here. The location is great, about 10 minutes to Times Square. Penn Station at the corner which is easy transport to all Manhattan, and it's surroundings. Easy transport from and to JFK's airport. They serviced my room daily. My room was one of the ones that have been remodeled recently. Its was nice, no fridge, coffeemaker or other perks like other hotels but I there are plenty of stores and food stands outside including a pharmacy about a block away. It's also across from Madison Square Garden which also has a food court adjacent to it. The check in was a little busy, like other reviewers had said but it's not that they're inefficient, it's that they are on high demand. Once you're at the desk, it was fast and easy. They had like 5 people at least working at the desks so they're efficient I'm telling you. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. The biggest perks, clean room, private bathroom and the most important, the great location. Awesome! Thank you Penn Hotel staff.
