I find it very beautiful and is cute to visit, in the midst of the noise of the city. She became famous for an anecdote that saw the protagonist of an actor complaining to the priest who denied him the funeral of his friend, telling him to turn to a small church around the corner. In fact this church is known as "The Little church around the corner". Council!
Beautiful historic stone church located in Chinatown. My great- grandparents were married here in 1870 so it holds significance for me. The lovely wooden interior belies its origins as a Protestant church. Masses are offered in English, Spanish and Chinese.
Beautiful old church. Gorgeous ceiling with gold and cream detail. Originally Italian parish but now vibrant Chinese community runs it and is in heart if Chinatown. So glad it was not destroyed/sold/let run down. English mass said on Sunday well attended. I learned that Dorothy day worked in this neighborhood and helped the poor here. Great history. May this church survive and thrive for many more centuries to come!
