Admire Natural Bridge State Park, a tree-lined natural rock arch spanning a gorge in the mountainous terrain of western Virginia. Over the 19th and 20th centuries, this carved-out rock formation measuring 66 m (215 ft) high, and 27 m (90 ft) wide was known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Thomas Jefferson so greatly admired the natural landmark that he purchased the bridge in 1774 from the King of England for 20 shillings. After admiring the bridge, take a stroll down the Cedar Creek Trail, which runs for about one 1.6 km (1 mi), and passes near the Cedar Creek Cafe. • We dropped by for a quick visit. Ice closed part of the walk, so we could not see everything, but enjoyed what we saw.  more »

  • This is perhaps the most beautiful natural setting I have ever seen! It is historic, to both Native Americans and two Americans, and it is breathtaking to see in person. No picture can truly capture how amazing it is to be at this wonderful natural site. The stairs can be a bit tricky but the walk is very easy to see the beautiful natural display. Also very extensive Trails, cafes, and a wonderful gift shop that is huge and has everything, including the local items from local artists including Native Americans. Truly this is a wonderful place and it has accommodations nearby and other natural features like the caverns and the zoo. Great place for family and everyone else!
  • Natural Beauty. Beautiful U shaped bridge. Not too crowded and worth a walk. Pretty historical as this place was visited bu Gorge Washington and has his initials inscribed on bridge. Also, this place was home to ancient Indian tribe. Good historical representation of how Indians lived 100s of years ago.
