Established in 1961 to preserve the history and traditions of country music, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum features rotating exhibits and frequent live performances by some of the genre's top artists. The museum holds a collection of video clips and recorded music, put together to illustrate the story of country music as it evolved over the years. Just seeing the exterior of the keyboard-shaped building in the heart of the city may rank high on your itinerary, but don't miss a chance to spend a little time exploring the museum's oral history exhibits, containing over 600 interviews with songwriters, producers, and performers. The museum also features an on-site gift shop and restaurant. One of the main attractions of Nashville and it does not disappoint. There is something for everyone to admire and learn about. My most surprising was Willie Nelson. I got such a kick out of the elaborately embellished suits that the men performed in and such bright colors which I found ironic because we had black and white TVs but it wasn't for us as home...it was for their audience. There is so much more to enjoy here.
I was so excited to come here. It was a must do on my vacation and I wasn't disappointed. I loved that I could do a self tour but still get the information with the handheld device. It was great. Everyone was very helpful telling us what to check out. My husband even commented on how it gave him a new appreciation for country music!!!
