Belle Meade Plantation, Nashville

4.5
The historical Belle Meade Plantation, established in 1807, has served as a thoroughbred stud breeding ground, an extensive farm with a cotton gin, and a Confederate general’s headquarters. Take a tour of Greek-Revival mansion, restored to its turn-of-the-century appearance, and several original outbuildings. You can explore the dairy, carriage house, mausoleum, stable, and reconstructed slave quarters as a costumed guide narrates the property’s history. After the tour, head to the onsite winery for a free tasting. Also swing by Harding House restaurant for some Southern hospitality. • Historically very interesting - particularly the horse racing history. Maintenance is a work in progress. The restaurant on the grounds has good food. There was a wine-tasting, but we didn't have time...  more »
  • We enjoyed the tour. The host was very informative. His knowledge on the house was extensive and was told in a very interesting presentation.  more »

  • We enjoyed our visit from beginning to end. Our mansion tour was thorough, interesting and educational. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of the history and a fun sense of humor. We also visited the coop & scoop and the ladies in there were delightful, and yes the ice cream and fudge were fantastic. We went home with lots of fudge to go with our wine of course. Again the folks in the winery were knowledgeable and very friendly. And finally our segue tour was so much fun! We had a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. The grounds are beautiful and the people kind. It was an afternoon well spent..
