Domaine Carneros, Napa

4.1
#1 of 63 in Wineries in Napa
Taste the sparkling Pinot Noir at Domaine Carneros, or enjoy a cheese plate and a tour around the château. Both the château and the production area are constructed in the French style, making this a more Old World experience than you'll find at other California wineries. For some extra decadence, limousines are available for hire. Almost all of the fruit processed here comes from estate vineyards, and it’s all certified organic. Using our world travel planner, Napa attractions like Domaine Carneros can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Domaine Carneros was one of my highlights to visit when I went to Napa. Styled after a French chateau, I was quickly taken back to the Loire Valley I visited years ago. Be prepared to wait but tables turn quick! Patio is the best, but get a table! Small plates were fantastic, beautiful view, but definitely one the pricier winery experiences in town. Don't come here if you want to save a buck. Well worth the money you pay for the experience! If sparkling wines are your bag, choose DC!
  • Very nice. You do need reservations. Their specialty is sparkling wine. The exterior is quite spectacular. Our server was excellent, a local who was able to give us some great information about what to see and do in the area.
  • Great atmosphere. My wife and I did a tasting inside, since it was approximately 100 degrees outside. Josiah was our wine expert. He was great. He took the time to explain to the sparkling fermentation process as well. Quite interesting. We bought a few bottles of sparkling wine from here. Overall 9.3/10
  • Great wines. Reservations are recommended. Weekends can be busy. We love the sit down service. Tours are fun.
  • Decided to book a tour here at the recommendation from someone over at Poseidon. The tour was $40 which included quite a bit of information about the history of the company and the sparkling wine making process in general. Our tour guide was Al and he was great. He gave a wealth of information and was very friendly and funny. All of the wines were good but nothing I would really buy. After the tour I asked Al if they had any sweeter wines and he opened a bottle of the Vermeil Demi Sec. Boy am I glad he did. That one was much more to my liking. The experience was great and the grounds are stunning.

Where to stay in Napa

To explore North America's largest wine-growing region and remain close to fine dining and shopping, consider staying at a bed and breakfast located in downtown Napa. Many centrally located inns offer spacious rooms with fireplaces, free Wi-Fi, and on-site swimming pools. If you don't mind splurging, consider staying at one of the wine valley's lavishly furnished villas, many of which feature private lakes and access to a network of scenic hiking trails. You can also go all out at a luxury resort located in a picturesque vineyard setting.
