Imposing cliffs, geological formations, and rugged mesas define Dead Horse Point State Park. In the days of westward expansion, cowboys kept wild mustangs atop the point because it served as a natural corral. Featuring an outcropping of red rock rising 610 m (2,000 ft) above the Colorado River, the park offers more than 2,100 hectares (5,300 acres) that you can explore on foot or by bike. Bike trails cover 27 km (17 mi) along and through the canyons. Several paved footpaths offer hiking options. Keep in mind that the area's elevation of nearly 1,800 m (5,900 ft) can cause you to tire more easily than at a lower altitude. Dead Horse Point State Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , international travel planner Edition.

Great ranger programs daily. Awesome views to rival the Grand Canyon. Traffic and parking are so much better. You can drive! No special transport needed. We stayed here for 3 nights, should have done a week. Hot in day cool at night in August. Electric only you should bring your own water. Dump station.

Photos are worth a thousand words. Dead Horse point is absolutely beautiful. These photos were taken during sunset, during the Fourth of July weekend. Wear some bug spray and bring your camera! Do some yoga, meditate, propose to someone, have a picnic. This is the best place to be and to enjoy Mother Nature!
