With over 40 galleries, Milwaukee Art Museum displays the work of artists ranging from self-taught folk geniuses to Pablo Picasso. Being itself an architectural landmark, famous for its moveable sunscreen in the shape of wings, that folds and unfolds twice daily, the museum has become an icon for Milwaukee. Apart from paintings, photographs, and video art, among many collections, you'll see Baroque and Renaissance furniture, tableware, and metalwork, as well as the best collection of German Renaissance clocks outside of Germany. The museum has some of the United States' finest collections of American decorative arts, Haitian art, and more. If you get hungry, take a peek at the menu in cafe Calatrava, with entrees inspired by the exhibition currently taking place. An art museum that is beautiful on the inside and out, with great views of the lake. A nice place to visit, even if you don't look at the art. There is a place in the museum you can but food and beverages like coffee, and then sit and look at the lake. Beautiful. Enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend.

Even the parking garage is beautiful. The layout is an absolute maze but I think given time may make sense. I loved the selection and size and staff. Being next to the lake with huge windows was a big bonus. Gorgeous museum. My only negative was walking into the cafe around half an hour before stated close to find it completely empty. I waited for a hostess or server but when none showed I headed out to eat elsewhere
