A major road and a popular tourist attraction, Ocean Drive features the often-photographed mansion of fashion designer Gianni Versace. After years of neglect, the drive came back on the scene in the 1980s, when several world-class restaurants and hotels helped dispel the neighborhood's long-standing reputation for petty street crime. Today, this street cuts through an area renowned for its pastel sunrises, trendy nightclubs, and about 800 preserved Art Deco buildings.
