Dinosaur National Monument visitor center was once home to prehistoric creatures, as well as civilizations dating back 800 to 1,200 years. The park's main draw is Quarry Exhibit Hall, where you'll find 1,500 dinosaur fossils and intact dinosaur bones exposed, including a nearly complete skull. You can also learn more about the Fremont people who lived here through the petroglyphs they left behind on rock walls. Drive one of the park's many scenic routes for views of the mountains and possible sightings of wildlife like deer, bighorn sheep, and prairie dogs. You can also explore the park by foot on a hiking trail, or try white-water rafting on the Green or Yampa rivers for a closer look at the park's remote canyons. Ranger-led programs offer the chance to explore the park a little deeper; ask at the visitor center for more information on current programs. • Very interesting place with actual fossils. The kids loved it. My tip: go up with the shuttle and walk down along the fossils track. It is way easier since the weather can be damn hot! The visitor center is well documented and the area at the top is even better showing the actual place where they used to dig out the dinausors.
  • I have been coming to Jensen since I was a small boy, I have visited Dinosaur 20 or more times in my life and every time I am awe struck. Looking back in time at the bones and considering these creatures were walking exactly where you are is very exciting. It is especially fun for kids. I absolutely recommend coming and seeing the bones, and then take a shorts trip up the road and see petroglyphs and Josie's cabin. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
