Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island

Must see · Beach · Nature / Park
On the north end of Jekyll Island, Driftwood Beach resembles a graveyard for trees. Oak and pine roots protrude from these shores due to the gradual erosion of the north shore. In some cases, entire full-sized trees have washed ashore. The intricate designs of wave-worn driftwood make for an excellent photo-op. Driftwood Beach is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , online itinerary creator Edition.

  • My wife and I went here Thanksgiving morning. Driftwood Beach is so cool. Lots of trees on the beach. Some of it is very rocky but the shells are in the rocks. Lots of great pictures can be taken...  more »
  • A little walk, or a long walk-nice trails to explore. Pretty & quiet in November. You can see the flipped over boat at st. Simons too from the beach  more »

  • I really enjoyed this beach and learning its history. They have some of the old structures there from 30-40 years ago. I remember visiting this beach 30 years ago and it looks totally different. There was way more beach then. I am glad they are trying to preserve it. We were able explore with our tour guide. This is a nice tucked away gem.
  • I loved this beach growing up and now my children love it as much as I did. Not only is it one of the most beautiful places I've seen, it's so much fun to explore! This is my favorite place to hunt shells, sea glass, and shark's teeth.
