Home to the Indianapolis 500 and the city's Grand Prix, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is also known for its dedication to automotive and motorsports history. The speedway is famous for hosting some of the world's biggest races, and therefore the world's best drivers, since it was established in 1909. With the ability to hold up to 400,000 guests, it is the highest-capacity sports arena in the world. If you're in town for a race, or are just interested in learning more about racing, be sure to stop into the Hall of Fame Museum. The museum was founded in 1956 and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Here you'll discover more than 75 cars, along with historical racing and automotive accessories and paraphernalia. We enjoyed the museum even not being huge racing fans. We also did the kiss the bricks tour which I recommend. more »
Loved this place. The museum was interesting. If you're a race car buff, it would be fascinating. The guided tour of the grounds was excellent. There were cars on the track during our tour so we couldn't get on the track itself. But standing next to the track while they zoomed by was awesome.
I recommend anyone and everyone to visit and check out the museum.. The museum is not only very informative but also very clean and organized. Literally, from the gift shop to the racing cars and on to the timelines of various important individuals, I thoroughly enjoyed myself as I became enlightened on who made the Indianapolis Motor Speedway what it is today.. Excellent customer service. 10/10.
