The Izumo Taishakyo Mission is a Shinto shrine located in downtown Honolulu, Hawaii. It is one of the few active Shinto shrines in the United States. The wooden A-frame structure was inspired by Shimane Prefecture's classical Japanese shrine Izumo Taisha. It was designed by architect Hego Fuchino and built by master carpenter Ichisaburo Takata. For Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii and beyond, use our Honolulu sightseeing tool to get the most from your Honolulu vacation.

Love the structure. No fasteners, like a 3D puzzle. Although it has not been constructed over a traditional base. But I guess this is as close as you may get while complying to building codes! Follow the tradition, it is fun!
