The Biscayne National Park Institute (BNPI) provides the public with fun and educational boat tours, programs, and experiences in Biscayne National Park.
Biscayne National Park protects a rare combination of aquamarine waters, beautiful islands, and unique coral reefs. It also has over 10,000 years of human history, from pirates and shipwrecks to pineapple farmers and presidents. Outdoor enthusiasts can boat, snorkel, camp, watch wildlife…or simply relax in a rocking chair gazing out over the bay.
The Institute provides many educational and exciting experiences while you are visiting the park including wildlife watching, boating, paddling, sailing, snorkeling, and much more. Explore the mangrove estuaries or the shipwrecks in the bay and ocean or glide under the waves to see the colorful coral reefs. Visit the uninhabited Florida Keys and walk the natural beaches and trails. There are also picnic areas and restrooms. Join a subtropical island guided tour, camp on an island, or hike the length of Elliott Key. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Homestead trip simple and quick.

Biscayne National Park Institute Reviews
Beautiful day to explore. I wasn't able to take the boat tour since they were sold out. Guess I'll need to return! more »
This was a really fun boat ride and adventure to Boca Chita Key in Biscayne NP. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly, and we couldn't ask for a more perfect day. Although a small..... more »
Educational, fun and affordable! We booked the Boca Chita excursion with the Biscayne National Park Institute. It was only $129 for two adults and one child. This nonprofit is the only tour organization which leaves from the visitor center. The boat ride each way takes about 30-45 minutes, and you get about one hour on the island to explore. There is a lighthouse, a small and shallow swimming beach, a short nature trail, and it’s all beautiful to look at. The boat ride is great too. Castle and John were our crew on the Sawfish, and they were great. Castle was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of valuable information about the area as well as tips for how to preserve our oceans. Our 10 year old loved every minute of it. Thank you!
I booked a snorkeling trip with the Institute and enjoyed the experience. The snorkel spot varies based on the weather; we were able to snorkel out at the reef which involves a long boat ride. During this ride, the guides tell you about the history of the park and point out landmarks and wildlife (I wasn't expecting to learn so much about the park history on a snorkel tour and so I was pleasantly surprised). The snorkeling was good; we saw a lot of different species. My only complaint is that we arrived 15 minutes early for the trip as the instructions indicate. However, the trip doesn't actually start until 30 minutes after that and it went out late so we were sitting around for a bit. But I'm going to cut the crew some slack since they were basically operating the park in the absence of NPS support during the Government shutdown. Other things to know: The boat goes pretty fast at some points, so if you that frightens you, you may want a different tour. If you don't want to go out on a boat at all, you can walk along to the boardwalk to see some of the park from the shoreline. However, since 95% of this park is water, they recommend doing some type of boat trip. There are different types of trips available if you don't snorkel.
