The animal exhibits are spacious chain-link enclosures within an actual West Virginian forest, which allows the animals to interact with the environment and behave in more natural ways than one would see in most other zoos that attempt to recreate the environment. There weren't a lot of animals but their habitats were clean and roomy and the paved loop walkway in the woods was a great walk. The animals were a great representation of the local wildlife. Great..... more »
We had family in from out of town and brought them here to help the kids unwind. I love that they have put weather sheds throughout the trail. They are actually fairly large and easily accessible via a wheelchair. Most of the animals were just lounging but that is expected. There was one vacant habitat but that didn't seem to bother anyone. Considering the price to get in this is an amazing little gem and I am glad our community keeps it going.
It seems like there are not as many animals as there used to be. Some of the cages were empty or "vacant" as well. Its not that expensive, but would be better with more animals to see. A lot of the animals were laying down or hiding, it would also be nice if their cages or " living areas" were a little bigger. Overall it was a decent walk, some of it uphill, and we had fun with the kids. A nice family place and good exercise, but it could be better.
