With a collection of different environments, Fort Clinch State Park is both a natural and historical landmark. The actual fort, which was founded in the 18th century, is open daily for touring. You can experience a variety of outdoor activities here, such as pier fishing, hiking, and shelling. The Amelia River runs through the park, and a campground with full facilities rests near its banks. Another campground is near the Atlantic Ocean. The first weekend of every month military reenactments fill the fort with performances of historical battles. Fort Clinch State Park Reviews
The ride into the park itself feels like traveling back in time. It's about 3 miles from the entrance to the fort itself under a veil of moss hanging from old trees lining the road. Very peaceful... more »

Awesome place! The drive into the park is gorgeous! Ranger at entrance/check in was super friendly and helpful. Well kept bathroom, shower area. Seeing deer on the beach awesome! Definitely worth the $26 a night for tent site, so close to beach you can hear the waves!
What a great treasure in North Florida. If you are a camper in the park, there are two campgrounds here: ocean side and river side. The ocean side is new, smaller, in more demand, and has almost no trees (so hotter). The river side has sites nestled among the trees. Both allow you to enjoy very beautiful sunsets over the water. Must do: visit the fort (only $2.50), walk the five miles of trails around the park, visit the nature overlooks along the road and trails. Just outside the park: go to the charming downtown area of Fernandina and stroll around the shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and have a bite to eat. Just outside the campground around the corner along the ocean is a great restaurant that you can walk to from the park, and it has beautiful ocean views (can't remember the name, but "kitchen" is in the name).
