Walk the route of the battle of Lexington and Concord, the opening battle in the Revolutionary War, when you visit Minute Man National Historical Park. Walk along Concord's North Bridge, where militiamen fired back at British troops for the first time, known as "the shot heard round the world." Look at the Minute Man Statue of 1875 and the Obelisk Monument, believed to be the country’s first memorial to casualties of war. You can walk the 8 km (5 mi) Battle Road Trail between Lexington and Concord, where British troops and Colonial militia fought, and see a monument at the site where Paul Revere was captured during his famed midnight ride. Visit Hartwell Tavern, a restored 18th-century inn, for history programs that are presented during certain months. The park also holds The Wayside, a home where the famous authors Amos Bronson Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Margaret Sidney once lived. Minute Man National Historical Park reviews
We stopped here after visiting Lexington. The park is separated into two different parts, the battle road and the bridge. Walking trails are flat and easy. This is a must see for American history. more »
One of the most important historical landmarks in the USA. Beautifully maintained and clean grounds. more »
Classic place to visit. Made me think about how hard early Americans fought and died for our freedom. Freedom is NOT FREE. Beautifully preserved park and site for all to visit. Big free parking lot invites walkable easy access. History still relevant today. Love the colors of the Fall leaves and standing on the bridge to watch the water.
We take all of our out of town guests here. Nice presentation. Walk on battle road passes a number historic sites and buildings. In season there are people dressed as people from the 1700's willing to tell you about they represent. You can also drive to Concord and Lexington which are close by
