  • Bryce Canyon is a small national park located in the southwest of the United States, in the state of Utah. Inside the area is the famous and wonderful Bryce Canyon. It is not really a canyon, but a huge amphitheatre originating from the erosion of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. It is famous for its pinnacles, called hoodos, produced by erosion of sedimentary rocks, erosion due to the action of water, wind and ice. In winter the temperatures here are very cold and even in May, when I have been there, sudden temperature changes of up to 15 degrees are possible in the space of 20 minutes!!!!!! The rocks have colors ranging from red to orange, passing through yellow and white. Sunlight enhances these colours and at sunset Bryce Canyon offers breathtaking views. The Bryce has an area of 145 km2 and an altitude ranging from 2400 m to 2700 m. The first settlers of the canyon were the Mormons who settled in 1850, and it was named after Ebenezer Bryce who settled in this area in 1875. The area was proclaimed a national monument in 1924 and established as Bryce Canyon National Park in 1928. Easily accessible from Moab (a famous sports town in the state of Utah) taking the I70 to Salina. From Salina, take Hwy89 to Panguitch, from here take the Hwy 12 that will take you straight to Bryce Canyon. Of course, complete and precise indications. I recommend you spend an entire afternoon there, because in addition to the scenic points, there are several trails that allow you to descend at the foot of the pinnacles, many small waterfalls and unique scenery. On average easy trails, with times ranging from 2 to 4 hours. At the visitor center you will find all the information. Admission fee, 35 euros. Don't miss it!
