Goosenecks State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Utah, overlooking a deep meander of the San Juan River. The park is located near the southern border of the state a short distance from Mexican Hat, Utah. Millions of years ago, the Monument Upwarp forced the river to carve incised meanders over 1,000 feet (300 m) deep as the surrounding landscape slowly rose in elevation. Eroded by water, wind, frost, and gravity, this is a classic location for observing incised meanders.Make your Blanding itinerary with Inspirock to find out what to see and where to go.
Goosenecks State Park is largely undeveloped. Primitive campsites with picnic tables are scattered back from the edge of the cliff, and vault toilets are available. Campers are advised to bring their own water, food, and other necessary gear.
There are no developed hiking trails in the park, but the Honaker Trail, a few miles to the northwest, provides access to the San Juan River.

Not much to the park other than the view of the goosenecks, but the view is pretty amazing! Worth a side trip if you're in the area. more »

The view from Gooseneck star park reminds of the Grand Canyon. There is no safety railings so caution is needed especially if you have pets or small kids. more »

This is actually a terrific gem in Utah. People rave about 'Big Bend' for having one bend, but Goosenecks has three. Not as colorful and the rocks are mostly grey, but majestic and spectacular nonetheless. There are virtually no tourists here, the sunsets are breathtaking, and there really isn't (to my knowledge) any place like it.

This little Utah State Park is very easy to pass by when you're traveling through Mexican Hat. The park entry fee is only $5 and the entire public area amounts to little more than a picnic ground. However, after visiting Monument Valley and other areas in the southwest this place was truly an unexpected and breathtaking surprise! I have heard we live along the banks of the San Juan river near Bloomfield New Mexico and it is amazing to see the Beautiful and all inspiring sculpture that this River has done here.
