USS Kidd (DD-661), a Fletcher-class destroyer, was the first ship of the United States Navy to be named after Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, who died on the bridge of his flagship USS Arizona during the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Admiral Kidd was the first US flag officer to die during World War II, and the first American admiral ever to be killed in action. A National Historic Landmark, she is now a museum ship, berthed on the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is the only surviving US destroyer still in her World War II configuration.Put USS Kidd at the forefront of your travel plans using our Baton Rouge travel route planning website.

You will not be disappointed. You get to learn how they live on the ship and what they do. Tight quarters but even with a disability we were able to see it all more »
It always amazes me to see how our men lived and fought on these old WW II era vessels. Volunteer staff was knowledgeable and eager to share. Definitely worth a visit. more »
The museum was really great! I didn’t get to go on the ship, but my kids and husband loved it! It’s a good bit of climbing steps up and down. This is definitely on the list to do again! Also, we caught it on an interactive Saturday where they had people dressed up as soldiers from different times. That was neat!
If you ever wondered why the Greatest Generation was called such, visit this museum. This ship served as a protector and defender for the larger battleships it served. The experience is like no other. It teaches what service really meant and provides a greater understanding of the daily life serving in the WW2 Navy.
