Casa Rondena Winery, Albuquerque

#6 of 31 in Wineries in New Mexico
Casa Rondeña Winery was lovingly established in late 1995 as a family undertaking, with the first plantings in 1990 at the hands of vintner John Calvin.

The Tasting Room opened in August 1997 and a winery building, with a commemorative Tricentennial bell tower (picture right), was completed in the autumn of 2004. In 2008, a new barrel aging and storage facility, including the Founder's Rotunda, was built in order to expand production capability of the winery and hold special events for winery members and special guests.

In 2010, Mr. & Mrs. Calvin moved out of the home they built on the property and turned it into the 1629 Club. This is a new level of membership to the winery which includes access to the private club among many other benefits.

The Tasting Room and winery is open to the public daily from 12 noon until 7 PM. No reservations are necessary. Picnics are allowed for Wine Club Members.

  • Tasting room closed, but...wine by the glass is brought outdoors to you at the area of your choosing. Very enjoyable.  more »
  • Nice little place for some wine. We enjoyed sitting and drinking next to the little lake before it got too hot. Since we can only get a glass now and no tasting, we will have to come back soon...  more »

  • This is by far my favorite winery! I've been coming here for years and it's become a wonderfully special place for my fiancee and I. The wine is delicious, the staff is caring and attentive and the food is devine. Ansel, who runs the 1629 Club is amazing, as are Jessie and Eric in the tasting room and the rest of the staff. We love those guys! And John, the owner ,top is top notch. Well worth spending an afternoon amongst the vineyards and old world charm.
  • Such a romantic evening. If you are looking for the best food, best service, best wine, look no further. Club manager, Ansel and Chefs, Jerome and David are the best Albuquerque has to offer. Thank you for such a memorable evening!
